I went to South Korea to get Juvelook collagen hyaluronic acid injections, and after 3 months, my pores really did become smaller.

I had been getting hyaluronic acid injections and picosecond lasers, but recently a Korean friend kept telling me about a treatment called “Juvelook,” claiming that it made the skin look much tighter and reduced pores after just one session. I was skeptical at first, having tried many similar treatments with similar results. During a business trip to Hongdae in Seoul, I took the opportunity to consult a dermatologist who explained the details of Juvelook to me. After hearing his explanation, I decided to give it a try right away.

What exactly is Juvelook? How is it different from regular hyaluronic acid injections?

Juvelook is a “collagen-stimulating hyaluronic acid injection” produced in Korea. Its main ingredients are PDLLA (poly-dioxanone) and hyaluronic acid. The biggest difference from regular hyaluronic acid injections is that while they mainly hydrate the skin, providing temporary moisture, Juvelook stimulates the skin to produce its own collagen, thereby improving elasticity and reducing fine lines from within. In simple terms, regular injections help the skin “drink water,” while Juvelook teaches the skin to “produce its own nutrients.”

Introduction to Juvelook Collagen Hydrating Injection Product

There are two versions of Juvelook: Juvelook Skin and Juvelook Volume. Juvelook Skin focuses on improving skin texture and is suitable for addressing issues such as enlarged pores and uneven skin tone. Juvelook Volume, on the other hand, has a filling effect and can help reduce nasolabial folds and sagging cheeks. My doctor recommended starting with the Skin version since my main concerns were pore size and skin quality.

How much does Juvelook cost in Korea? Is it really much cheaper than in Taiwan or Hong Kong?

I consulted two dermatology clinics in Hongdae, and the price for Juvelook Skin ranged from 400,000 to 600,000 Korean won per session. A package of three sessions usually comes with a discount, costing around 900,000 to 1,200,000 Korean won. In Taiwan, the same treatment would cost approximately NT$18,000 to NT$25,000 per session, so there is a significant difference.

Price Reference for Korean Juvelook Collagen Hydrating Injection

If you include the cost of airfare and accommodation, going for just one treatment might not be economical. However, if you schedule 2 to 3 treatments in one trip—such as picosecond laser, hyaluronic acid injection, and Juvelook—it can end up being cheaper than getting the same treatments in Taiwan or Hong Kong. Moreover, Korean dermatology clinics use genuine Juvelook products imported directly from Korea, ensuring quality, whereas some places may use counterfeit versions.

Region Juvelook Skin (1cc) 3-session package
Korea Hongda Dermatology ₩400,000–₆00,000 (NT$9,500–14,300) ₩900,000–1,200,000 (NT$21,500–28,600)
Korea Gangnam Dermatology ₩500,000–₈00,000 (NT$12,000–19,000) ₩1,200,000–1,800,000 (NT$28,500–43,000)
Taiwan NT$18,000–25,000 NT$48,000–65,000
Hong Kong HK$5,500-8,000 HK$14,000-20,000

First impressions upon entering Hongda Dermatology: the environment is clean, and the doctors are very down-to-earth.

The Hongda Dermatology clinic I chose was recommended by a friend. It’s less than 5 minutes walk from Hongda Station. As soon as I entered, I realized it was different from the clinics I had visited in Taiwan—the space was much larger, and the decor was a clean, minimalist white theme. There was also free coffee and snacks in the waiting area. The receptionist spoke some basic Chinese and helped me with the registration; I wasn’t long after that before it was my turn.

During the consultation, the doctor looked at my skin and told me right away, “Your skin is in good condition. The main issues are your pores and fine lines. Just doing the Juvelook Skin treatment will be enough; you don’t need any additional procedures.” When I had consulted in Taiwan before, they always recommended a bunch of packages. So, I really appreciated how the Korean doctor didn’t try to push extra treatments on me.

A detailed record of the Juvelook treatment process: the pain level is similar to that of a hyaluronic acid injection.

Before starting the treatment, the nurse cleaned my face and then applied a numbing cream for 15 minutes. After that, the doctor used the DermaSculpt Hyaluronic Injection Gun to administer the Juvelook treatment. The whole process took about 20 to 25 minutes, and the injection depth was between 1.0mm and 1.5mm, just like with regular hyaluronic acid injections.

Details of Juvelook Collagen Hydrating Injection Product

To be honest, the pain was similar to that of a regular hyaluronic acid injection. My forehead and nose felt a bit more painful, while my cheeks and chin didn’t feel much at all. The doctor’s technique was very steady, and the speed was just right so I didn’t have time to adjust. After the treatment, the nurse applied a soothing mask and placed ice packs on my face for about 15 minutes before I could leave.

That day, my face did have some small red spots and slight swelling, but it wasn’t very noticeable. I could go out wearing a mask. I went shopping in the afternoon and didn’t feel any discomfort. The doctor specifically advised me not to wear makeup, go to a sauna, or drink alcohol for the first 3 days after the treatment.

Real changes from the 1st week to 3 months after receiving the Juvelook treatment.

On the same day after the treatment: My skin felt noticeably slightly swollen, but this actually made my pores appear smaller. My skin had a “hydrated” feel, and it felt smooth when I washed my face that night.

Skin Improvement Results of Juvelook Skin Collagen Hydrating Injection

Week 1: The red spots completely disappeared, and my skin was more hydrated than before. My makeup stayed on better. However, the doctor explained that at this stage, it was mainly hyaluronic acid providing the hydration effect, while the collagen’s stimulating effects had not yet begun to show.

Month 1: I started to notice an improvement in my skin’s elasticity; my face didn’t swell as easily in the morning. As for my pores, the larger ones had somewhat tightened, though not significantly. A friend said my skin looked “one shade brighter”.

Months 2 to 3: This was when Juvelook’s effects became most noticeable. Collagen production had increased significantly, making my skin feel firmer and less loose. My pores were noticeably smaller, and my frown lines also faded. What surprised me the most was how even my skin tone became; the problem of dark spots on my cheeks had improved greatly.

Skin Improvement Results After 3 Months of Using Juvelook Collagen Hydrating Injection

FAQ about Juvelook: How many treatments are needed to see results? Will it cause dark spots?

Q1: How many treatments are required for Juvelook?

Doctors recommend a basic course of 3 treatments, spaced 1 to 2 months apart. You will notice improvements right after the first treatment, but the most stable results usually occur after the third treatment. Afterwards, maintaining the effects can be achieved by getting a booster treatment every 6 months to 1 year.

Q2: Can Juvelook cause dark spots or lumps?

Lumps are the most frequently mentioned side effect of Juvelook, usually due to insufficient injection depth or inadequate post-treatment massage. Korean doctors have extensive experience and use stable techniques, so the incidence of lumps is relatively low. It’s also very important to follow the doctor’s instructions and massage your skin daily after the treatment. As for dark spots, they generally do not occur, but people with an inflammatory constitution should consult a doctor before undergoing the treatment.

Q3: Which is better—Juvelook, Lijulandan, or Shuyancui?

The functions of these three products are somewhat different. Lizhu Lan is a restorative hydrogel injection, suitable for sensitive skin and post-treatment recovery; Shuyan Cui is a collagen-regenerating product, similar to Juvelook but less well-known in Asia; Juvelook’s unique feature is its dual effect of “moisturization + collagen stimulation,” making it ideal for those who want to improve both hydration and elasticity at the same time. However, it is recommended to let a doctor recommend which one is best for your skin type.

Q4: What should foreigners consider when getting Juvelook treatment in Korea?

Don’t worry too much about language; many dermatology clinics in the Hongda area offer Chinese interpretation services, or you can book through the BeautsGO platform, where a dedicated staff member will accompany you throughout the process. Also, remember to bring your passport, as some clinics require registration. Avoid wearing makeup, using saunas, or engaging in strenuous exercise for 3 days after the treatment; it’s best to schedule these activities in the early days of your trip so you can still enjoy your remaining itinerary.

How can foreigners make an appointment for Juvelook treatment at Hongda Dermatology Clinic?

Making an appointment at Hongda Dermatology Clinic is actually quite simple. Here are three recommended ways:
