With so many different types of hyaluronic acid injections available in South Korea, how should one choose? I finally understand the differences between Rejuran, Juvelook, and Restylane.

I used to hear from my friends from South Korea how amazing Hyaluronic Acid injections were, claiming that after the treatment, the skin would become plump and radiant, as if it had been hydrated. But upon further research, I realized that Hyaluronic Acid injections aren’t actually a single product; rather, they represent an entire category of treatments, comprising numerous different brands and formulas, each with its own specific effects. It was completely confusing at first—what exactly is Rejuran? What makes Juvelook different from Restylane? And what on earth is this LDM boosting?

It took me about two weeks to browse the official websites of Dermatology clinics in South Korea, read reviews on Naver, and also consult some sharing posts by Taiwanese girls. Finally, I was able to clarify the differences between the most commonly used hyaluronic acid injections. This article can be considered my own notes. If you are also hesitating about which hyaluronic acid injection to choose for your first visit to a Dermatology clinic in South Korea, it might be helpful for you to refer to this.

What exactly is a hyaluronic acid glow injection? Is it different from regular Filler treatments?

To conclude: Glow injections are not a form of filling similar to the use of Filler for nose or chin augmentation. The injection site is much shallower; hyaluronic acid or other active ingredients are injected into the dermis, approximately 2 mm beneath the skin’s surface. This process allows the skin to absorb and retain moisture from within, making it appear plumper and more radiant. You can think of it as “placing an invisible water-retaining layer on the skin,” enabling it to effectively absorb and hold water.

Compared with applying topical skincare products, the main difference of hyaluronic acid injections is that the ingredients are “directly delivered to the dermis”. Most topical products remain only on the surface of the stratum corneum, with an absorption rate of less than 1%. However, since hyaluronic acid injections are administered through injections, the utilization rate of the ingredients is much higher, resulting in more noticeable effects that become apparent more quickly.

Environment of Dermatology clinics providing hyaluronic acid injection services in South Korea

5 popular brands of hyaluronic acid injections in South Korea: Rejuran, Juvelook, Restylane, LDM, Neauvia – understand them all at once!

In South Korea, the hyaluronic acid injections most commonly recommended by Dermatology specialists are roughly the following ones. Each of them contains different ingredients and offers distinct therapeutic effects. I have prepared a simple comparison table; taking a look at it will help you get an idea of the options available.

Brand name Main ingredients Key selling point: significant effects Suitable for all skin types
Rejuran (black box) PDRN (salmon DNA extract) Repair damaged skin, promote regeneration, and reduce the size of Pores Sensitive and fragile skin, with scars from acne
Juvelook PDLLA Collagen Stimulator + Filler Lifting Collagen, reducing fine lines, and brightening the skin People of young to middle age who want to fight aging
Restylane Skinboosters by Restylane NASHA® technology utilizes stable Filler. Provides deep hydration, improves rough skin texture, and enhances elasticity. For those with dry skin who seek a more hydrated look
LDM Glow Boosting Specialized introduction solution (containing various vitamins) Introduction of 1.65MHz ultrasonic waves to enhance absorption rates For those who are afraid of injections or need regular skincare routines
Neauvia Hydro Deluxe Ultra-small molecule Filler + glycine Powerfully moisturizes the skin, reduces dullness, and helps achieve a more even complexion. Dry skin type, urban dull complexion

This table is just a general classification; in fact, each product is further divided into more specific models. For example, Rejuran comes in Black Box (restorative), White Box (for the eye area), HB (for reducing red blood vessels), and Healer (enhanced version) – each of these versions is designed for different areas of the body and different skin types.

What is the biggest difference between Rejuran and Juvelook? One focuses on repair, while the other focuses on anti-aging; getting them mixed up would be a complete waste of money.

These two products are probably the most frequently asked about hyaluronic acid injection combinations in South Korea’s Dermatology community, but many people are unable to distinguish the differences between them. After conducting my own research, I found that the simplest way to differentiate them is as follows: Rejuran belongs to the repair category, while Juvelook falls into the anti-aging category.

The core ingredient of Rejuran is PDRN, which is a DNA fragment extracted from salmon reproductive cells. Its similarity to human DNA reaches 98%, so the human body rarely rejects it. Its main function is to “help damaged skin repair itself.” If you have problems such as acne scars, enlarged Pores, damaged skin barriers, or redness, Rejuran is likely to be quite suitable for you.

The ingredients of Juvelook are quite special: it consists of PDLLA (polylactic acid) combined with Filler. PDLLA gradually degrades within the skin, and this process stimulates the body to produce its own Collagen. Therefore, the effects are not immediately visible after the treatment; instead, it is after 1 to 3 months that the skin quality begins to improve significantly – fine lines fade, the facial contours become more defined, and the overall texture of the skin becomes more even.

Process of hyaluronic acid injection at Dermatology clinics in South Korea

If you are over 30 years old and have started to notice that your Nasolabial Fold Correction and corner-of-mouth wrinkles have become more prominent, but you don’t want to undergo too invasive treatments, Juvelook would be a more suitable option for you. If you are in your twenties and are mainly troubled by acne scars, Pores, or uneven skin texture, then the Rejuran PN kit is sufficient.

Some Dermatology clinics in South Korea recommend starting with Rejuran to improve skin quality, followed by Juvelook treatments to stimulate Collagen production. The advantage of this approach is that it ensures a stronger foundation, resulting in more noticeable anti-aging effects. However, the costs are also higher, so it is important to conduct a thorough budget analysis before proceeding.

Let’s compare the prices of glow injections in South Korea: how much cheaper are they compared to Taiwan and Hong Kong?

This is probably the aspect that concerns the majority of people the most. The prices listed below are based on the current market conditions in Dermatology clinics in the Gangnam area of South Korea in 2026; prices may vary depending on the clinic and location.

Hydrogel needle brands South Korea price (Korean won) South Korea price (approximate NTD amount) Reference prices in Taiwan
Rejuran PN 2 centum core ₩180,000 to 400,000 NT$4,500–10,000 NT$8,000–15,000
Rejuran PN 4 centum core ₩350,000 to 700,000 NT$8,700 – 17,500 NT$14,000 to 25,000
1 bottle of Juvelook ₩250,000 to 500,000 NT$6,200 – 12,500 NT$12,000–20,000
Restylane Vital 1ml ₩200,000 to ₩400,000 NT$5,000-10,000 NT$10,000–18,000
LDM Boosting ₩100,000 to 200,000 NT$2,500–5,000 NT$3,000–6,000

Overall, the price of hyaluronic acid injections in South Korea is approximately 50% to 70% lower than that in Taiwan. For example, the 2-centum core Rejuran PN injection might cost around NT$10,000 in Taiwan, but in many Dermatology clinics in Gangnam, South Korea, it only costs around ⩺250,000 won (about NT$6,000), which is nearly half the price. The difference becomes even more significant if one plans to undergo a full course of treatment (usually recommended to be 3 sessions).

Results of glowing, radiant skin after hyaluronic acid injection

It should be noted, however, that price ranges in South Korea can vary significantly; the same product may have prices that differ by tens of thousands of won in Hongdae and Gangnam. Additionally, some clinics provide prices per “bottle,” while others offer package prices that include additional fees. When inquiring about prices, it is advisable to clarify whether all relevant costs are included.

Does it hurt when foreigners receive glow injections at a Dermatology clinic in South Korea? What is the procedure?

To be honest, it does hurt a bit, but it’s much less painful than I expected. In most Dermatology clinics in South Korea, a topical anesthetic is applied for about 30 to 40 minutes before the injection. During the injection, the pain is similar to that of being snapped by an eraser—it’s not a continuous ache. After the entire face has been treated, it takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes. Throughout the process, the doctor or nurse will constantly check on how you are feeling.

The entire process is roughly as follows:

  1. Upon arrival at the clinic, please complete the questionnaire (available in Chinese).
  2. The nurse will apply the anesthetic for you (30–40 minutes).
  3. The doctor will conduct a face-to-face consultation to determine the specific product and area to be treated.
  4. Start the injection process (15–20 minutes).
  5. Apply ice packs for relief, and use moisturizing creams for repair.
  6. Check out and leave (the entire process takes approximately 1.5 hours).

Different from Taiwan, the translation services in Dermatology clinics in South Korea are generally very comprehensive, and many clinics provide Chinese-speaking interpreters throughout the entire consultation process. If you are concerned about communication barriers, it is recommended to make an appointment through a platform like BeautsGO – you can specify the provision of Chinese-language services during the reservation process, which will ensure a more comfortable experience at the clinic.

How long does it take to see the results after receiving hyaluronic acid injections? Summary of the duration of effects and precautions to take

The effect timeline of hyaluronic acid injections is roughly as follows:

  • From the day of the procedure until the third day: The skin may appear slightly swollen, but this actually gives it a fuller look. Small red spots may be visible at the injection sites, but makeup can help cover them up.
  • 1 week later: The swelling had subsided, and the skin began to become more moist; the durability of makeup also improved significantly.
  • 2 to 4 weeks: The Filler components are fully integrated into the skin, and this is the period when the improvement in skin quality is most noticeable.
  • 1 to 3 months: For products like Juvelook that utilize Collagen to stimulate skin regeneration, this is the period when the effects are at their most pronounced.

In terms of duration, the effects of hyaluronic acid injections generally last for around 3 to 6 months. Due to its reparative and regenerative properties, Rejuran is considered by some to have a longer-lasting effect. Since Juvelook stimulates the growth of natural Collagen, in some cases, its effects can last for 6 to 9 months. It is recommended to complete a full course of treatment consisting of 3 sessions (one session per month), followed by maintenance injections every 2 to 3 months.

After the procedure, it is important to avoid contact with water, wearing makeup, and exposure to direct sunlight within 24 hours. For the first week, refrain from using saunas, taking baths, and engaging in intense physical activity. It is also essential to practice proper sun protection and moisturization on a daily basis; otherwise, the results of the treatment may be diminished.

If it’s my first time getting glow injections in South Korea, how can I choose a clinic without running into any problems?

Based on my own experience, here’s something to keep in mind: don’t just focus on the price. Some clinics offer very low quotes for hyaluronic acid injections, but this may be because they use diluted products or apply insufficient amounts. Here are a few tips when choosing a clinic for this procedure:

  • Verify the origin of the product: In South Korea, Dermatology clinics use only genuine products from the manufacturer; you can request to see the product packaging and batch number.
  • Regarding medical qualifications: In South Korea, Dermatology doctors are classified into “specialists” and “general practitioners”; it is recommended to choose a specialist in Dermatology.
  • Confirm the dosage: The standard dosage of Rejuran is 2 centum cores; however, some cheaper clinics only use 1 centum core, resulting in significantly inferior effects.
  • Translation services: When foreigners visit a Dermatology clinic in South Korea, it is truly essential to have Chinese translation assistance, as it enables them to clearly express their needs during the consultation.
  • Avoid the pitfalls in the tourist areas: Some clinics in Myeongdong specialize in serving foreigners, with relatively high prices and aggressive sales tactics. It is recommended to choose areas such as Gangnam or Hongdae instead.

From the information I gathered myself, the Gangnam Betterme Gangnam Dermatology is a popular choice recommended by many Taiwanese women. They have a complete range of equipment and excellent customer service, and they don’t insist on recommending additional treatments. Their Hyaluronic Acid glow treatment series is also very comprehensive, offering everything from basic Filler treatments to Rejuran and Juvelook products.

Q1: At what age is it appropriate to start using hyaluronic acid injections?

Generally, people over the age of 20 can start using basic moisturizing hyaluronic acid injections such as Restylane Vitality or Neauvia. After the age of 25, if you want to target Pores and skin texture for improvement, Rejuran may be a good option. For those over 30 who are looking for anti-aging effects, Juvelook is more suitable.

Q2: Can hyaluronic acid injections be combined with other treatments?

Certainly. In South Korea, the common combination in Dermatology is “Pico laser + hyaluronic acid injections” or “HIFU + hyaluronic acid injections”. However, it is not recommended to undergo two types of injectable treatments on the same area on the same day; an interval of at least one week is advised.

Q3: Can pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding receive these treatments?

It is not recommended. Although Filler is a natural component of the human body, for safety reasons, all injectable cosmetic treatments should be postponed during pregnancy and breastfeeding.

Q4: Are there any side effects after receiving hyaluronic acid injections?

Common short-term reactions include mild swelling, redness, and minor bruising (which usually subside within 1 to 3 days); these are all considered normal. In rare cases, some individuals may experience allergic reactions (where the redness persists for more than a week); in such situations, it is recommended to contact the clinic immediately. Choosing a reputable clinic and using genuine products can help minimize the risks associated with these treatments.
