Before deciding to fly to Seoul for Double eyelid surgery, I spent nearly two months doing research. It wasn’t because of hesitation, but because this procedure really couldn’t be taken lightly – I had already undergone Double eyelid surgery in Taiwan, but the results were asymmetrical, and my eyelid muscles were weaker than before the operation, making it particularly difficult to open my eyes. Friends suggested that South Korea’s Double eyelid surgery techniques were more advanced than those in Taiwan, especially at some institutions with a good reputation among Chinese-speaking communities. So I began to compare various options carefully. What I want to share in this article is not which institution offers the lowest price, but rather the three key criteria that ultimately helped me make my choice after consulting three different Double eyelid surgery clinics in Seoul.

South Korea’s eye restoration market in 2026: Several things I really needed to understand before flying to Seoul

The first thing I did before setting off was to gather information about “the market trends for eye restoration treatments in South Korea in 2026.” The information available online was quite mixed – some said that seoulcheil Cheongdam First was twice as expensive as SEMI, and many people reported waiting in long queues to get treatment there; others claimed that the plastic surgery clinics specializing in EYE BEAUTY were particularly skilled at addressing asymmetrical issues. After reading dozens of articles, I identified several key issues that were truly relevant.

  • What is the actual difference in cost between the first repair, the second repair, and the more complex repairs?
  • In the field of cosmetic eye surgery, is the focus more on “technology” or on “the individual style of the surgeon”?
  • Will language be a problem for foreigners when they go for consultation?
  • Apart from the costs, how can post-operative follow-up appointments be arranged in a way that ensures everything goes smoothly?

I compiled these issues into a list and took it to three different institutions for consultation. The following is my personal account of the experience.

EH EYEHO Plastic Surgery Clinic in South Korea: The Medical Treatment Environment

The three eye restoration clinics in Seoul that I consulted ranged in cost from 3 million to 12 million won.

The three clinics in question are: EH EYEHO Plastic Surgery (specializing in eye treatments), SEMI Plastic Surgery (a established institution for eye restoration procedures), and Cheongdam First Plastic Surgery (expert in complex restorative surgeries). It took me two days to consult with all of them, and here are the actual differences in their quotes:

institute First repair (mild case) Second-stage repair (moderate degree) Highly complex restoration procedures (muscle lifting + reconstruction)
EH EYEHO Plastic Surgery 35 million to 50 million yen 50 million to 80 million yen 99 million to 912 million
SEMI Plastic Surgery 94 million to 95.5 million 55 million to 99 million yen 910 million to 914 million
Cheongdam First Plastic Surgery Center 60 million to 80 million yen 80 million to 911 million yen Over ¥120 million (subject to case-by-case assessment)

Just in terms of costs, the difference between the three companies is indeed significant — Cheongdam First’s fees are nearly 1.5 to 2 times those of EH. However, during my consultation process, I realized that “cost” was not at all the key factor that influenced my decision.

Eye repair procedures

In South Korea, eye restoration clinics don’t solely focus on prices. Here are three real criteria that helped me make my decision.

After seeking advice, I re-examined the logic behind my choices. The following three key criteria ultimately influenced my decision; I believe they are more important than “cost”:

Standard 1: Has this doctor actually dealt with “problems like yours” before?

Eye restoration procedures are not one-size-fits-all; the reasons for failure vary from person to person—sometimes it’s due to excessive tightening of the levator muscles, sometimes to scar adhesion, sometimes to symmetry issues, and other times to overly prominent lines. What you should look for is not a clinic that has performed a large number of eye restoration surgeries, but a doctor who has previously dealt with cases similar to yours. During consultations, I directly ask, “For a situation like mine, how many cases has your director performed? What is the approximate success rate?” Only clinics that can provide clear answers to these questions deserve consideration.

Standard 2: How many follow-up visits are possible after the procedure? Are the related costs already included in the total fee?

Many people only consider the cost of the surgery itself and forget about the expenses associated with postoperative care. Eye restoration usually requires 1 to 3 follow-up visits, and some clinics charge additional fees for these follow-ups. If you live in Taiwan or Hong Kong, you should always check the status of your wound before returning to those places. Ideally, the clinic should offer remote follow-up consultations or online consultation services. When comparing three different options, I specifically asked, “If I encounter any problems in Taiwan after the surgery, can I get video consultations? How will the fees be calculated?” The way these questions were answered helped me rule out one of the clinics right away.

Standard 3: Are the communication methods used by the consultant sufficient to make you feel at ease?

This aspect is quite subjective, yet extremely important. I have experienced excessive pressure during consultation sessions—comments like “It would be better to add an eye corner procedure to your case” or “We have special package deals available recently.” A trustworthy clinic should carefully assess your current issues and honestly explain the possibilities and limitations of any treatment, rather than trying to push you to spend up your budget. If the consultant speaks in a way that makes you feel respected, that is definitely a good sign.

Are the costs of eye restoration procedures in South Korea really more affordable than those in Taiwan and Hong Kong? Here are my actual calculations.

Before deciding to fly to Seoul, I compared the total costs and included all expenses other than the surgery fees.

Cost items Seoul, South Korea (to be arranged by yourself) Taiwan (first recovery phase of the market) Hong Kong (private hospital market)
Surgical fees ₩4 million to ⩹₉1.2 million (approximately NT$90,000 to NT$270,000) NT$60,000 to NT$150,000 HK$25,000 to HK$60,000
Air ticket (round-trip from Taipei to Seoul) Approximately NT$4,000 to NT$8,000 — —
Accommodation (for 2-3 nights after the procedure) Approximately NT$3,000 to NT$8,000 — —
Postoperative follow-up visit (1 time) Included in the fee or within ¥550,000 This is usually included in the total cost. This is usually included in the total cost.
Estimate the total cost Approximately NT$100,000 to NT$300,000 NT$60,000 to NT$150,000 HK$25,000 to HK$60,000+

To be honest, when considering the cost of airfare and accommodation, the expenses for eye restoration procedures in South Korea are not necessarily cheaper than those in Taiwan. So what is the point of going to South Korea for such treatments? The reason lies in the broader range of cases that the local techniques can address – especially for complex issues such as muscle lifting or cases where previous restoration attempts have been unsuccessful. South Korean clinics have handled many more of these cases, and they also have larger sample sizes from which to compile success rates.

If your case falls into the “medium difficulty” category, Taiwan’s current technology is already sufficient; however, if it involves “high difficulty” or if previous attempts at correction have been unsuccessful, then taking a flight to undergo treatment is certainly worth considering seriously.

How can foreigners make appointments at eye repair clinics in Seoul? The method I recommend most is…

The methods for making appointments at these three clinics are all different: some require contacting them via Korean LINE, others involve filling out an English form, and yet others offer Chinese translation services, but you need to request this in advance. For foreigners visiting Seoul for the first time, language barriers pose the biggest obstacle. I recommend using the BeautsGO platform for making appointments – it provides reservation services in Traditional Chinese, and its customer service will help you coordinate consultation times, inform you of the required documents (usually pre-operative photos), and even assist you in arranging your itinerary before you arrive in Seoul.

The advantages of booking through BeautsGO are as follows: you don’t have to send emails one by one in Korean; simply fill in your requirements (including pre-operative photos), and you will receive quick responses from the clinics. For those who “have limited time and are planning their first trip to Korea for medical beauty treatments on their own”, this method saves a lot of time and hassle.

Before going to South Korea for eye restoration surgery, this matter is even more important than the choice of clinic.

What I would like to say finally is: before comparing different clinics and their fees, it is important to honestly assess the severity of your problem and your own psychological readiness. Eye restoration is an irreversible procedure – each incision and repair done reduces the tissue’s flexibility further. Before deciding to undergo this surgery, you need to think carefully about these factors.

  • Is your issue functional or purely aesthetic? Functional problems (such as weak muscle tone or difficulty opening the eyes) definitely require surgery; whereas purely aesthetic issues (such as slightly raised lines or minor asymmetries) may not necessarily necessitate immediate surgical intervention.
  • How long has it been since your last surgery? Most doctors recommend waiting at least 6 months to 1 year after the previous operation before considering the possibility of further treatment or revision.
  • Are you willing to accept the uncertainties associated with such repairs? The results of complex restorations cannot be guaranteed with 100% certainty, even in the most advanced institutions. This is not a problem with the institutions themselves, but rather an inherent characteristic of the eye tissues.

If you have already thought through these questions, taking a flight to Seoul and finding a doctor who truly understands your needs is definitely a worthwhile investment. If you are still hesitating, you can first undergo a free online consultation through BeautsGO – there’s no need to rush and book a flight yet; let the professionals assess your situation first.

Frequently Asked Questions about Eye Restoration Consultations

Q1: Does the cost of eye repair surgery in South Korea include follow-up consultations after the operation?

The regulations vary among different institutions. EH EYEHO Plastic Surgery and SEMI Plastic Surgery usually include 2 post-operative follow-up visits, while Cheongdam First determines the number of follow-up visits based on the complexity of the case. When consulting, please make sure to ask whether “the cost of post-operative follow-up visits is included in the quote” and whether “foreigners are allowed to undergo remote follow-up visits”.

Q2: Is there a significant difference in the costs between the first and second repairs?

The difference is significant. Generally speaking, the cost of a second revision procedure is 1.5 to 2 times that of the initial procedure, because it is necessary to address the scar tissue left from the previous surgery. For more complex revisions (including procedures related to lifting the muscles), the costs are even higher, and in such cases, a face-to-face consultation is usually required before an accurate quote can be provided.

Q3: If a foreigner undergoes eye repair surgery in Seoul, how many days does it take before they can fly back to Taiwan or Hong Kong?

Most institutions recommend staying in Seoul for at least 3 to 5 days after the procedure to ensure that recovery progresses normally before returning home. If persistent swelling or bruising occurs after the surgery, it is advisable to extend your stay in Korea. It is recommended to book a flexible round-trip flight that allows for cancellations or adjustments.

Q4: Is there any difference in cost when booking eye repair services through BeautsGO compared to going directly to the clinic?

There are no additional fees for using BeautsGO to make reservations; the prices quoted by the clinics are the same as those obtained by visiting them in person. The advantage is that BeautsGO provides customer service in Traditional Chinese, so you don’t have to communicate with the clinics in Korean or English on your own, eliminating the uncertainty that may arise from language barriers.
